In the initial semesters of the bachelor’s programme, you will acquire fundamental skills in business administration, economics, business law, and quantitative methods. The Banking & Finance major focuses on taking a comprehensive and practical approach to the functions of financial institutions. You will engage in depth with topics such as company valuation, corporate finance, and portfolio management. In addition, you will learn how to correctly apply risk management tools, principles of sustainability, and regulatory requirements. The learning objectives in the areas of corporate finance, asset and portfolio management are aligned with CFA Level 1, providing ideal preparation for this demanding external exam.

Programme overview
In the Banking & Finance major, you will gain detailed knowledge of key financial instruments such as shares, bonds, and derivatives. In addition, you will gain an in-depth understanding of the Swiss pension systems and the financial planning of private investors.
As part of the portfolio contest, you will develop investment strategies for alternative portfolios and present them with a focus on client needs. Further key areas of this specialisation include behavioural finance, as well as an introduction to fintech and cryptocurrencies. You will engage in an in-depth exploration of modern instruments in bank management and bank governance, ensuring you are well prepared for the future of the sector. A particular highlight is a practice-oriented banking simulation, where you will take on the role of a decision-maker in a financial institution. You make holistic decisions with impacts on the company's value that you can observe directly.
The major is complemented by the topics of risk management, profit-oriented bank management, as well as regulation and ESG investing.

Fees
Tuition fees are CHF 4,750 per semester, including examination fees, the bachelor’s thesis, and external seminars. The fees can be paid in monthly instalments, in which case a surcharge of 5% will be added.
