Project management seminar
HWZ offers project management seminars as part of the part-time Bachelor’s degree programs in Business Communications and Digital Business & AI. Students nearing the end of their studies develop innovative and concrete solutions to practical problems. Also for your organization!
In a four-day intensive seminar, the students work on a case study that is developed in close collaboration with a client. The results include analyses and strategic statements as well as concrete proposals and actionable measures, which are summarized and presented in a document. As the client company, you will receive several different solution proposals. The total effort of the students amounts to about 2,000 working hours. The project management seminars are conducted in German or English, depending on the client’s preference.
The target group includes companies, institutions, public administrations, NGOs and NPOs from all sectors, including banks, insurance companies, service providers, production and industrial companies, social and cultural institutions, municipalities, cantons, the federal government and many more.
Win-Win for Students and Employers
In practice, you will receive solutions that can be implemented 1:1, as well as many innovative ideas that are based not only on the theoretical knowledge learned in the course of your studies but also on the professional knowledge from the everyday work of our students. The students work on a real-life case and contribute their creative ideas. Through intensive project work, they get to know a company in detail and can provide concrete support. For the lecturers and HWZ, the focus is on direct collaboration with the business world, public administration, NGOs/NPOs, etc. The practical relevance to current business issues is a value added for you, HWZ and the students.
We are taking a lot of inspiration and also some optimizations that we do not want to withhold from our +21 million users worldwide.
Organization
The project management seminars take place outside the university in the spring semester. The four teams, each consisting of five to seven students, are supervised by lecturers. All teams work on the same case study and are therefore in competition with each other.
Solution of the case study and presentation of the results
Presentation to the client (on the morning of the last seminar day)
Submission of a project documentation, a three-page brief summary in electronic form to the client
Student briefing with submission of case documentation
Establishment of a hotline for questions during the seminar
Presence at the project presentations at the seminar location on the last seminar day
Development of the case study in close consultation with the client
Conducting a preparatory day with the study group
Supervision of students during the processing of the case study
The opportunity to work for a real client and to present our solution in a pitch against other teams has motivated us a lot and inspired us to perform at our best.
