Silvana Cucu

Silvana Cucu has headed the Department of Digital Business Management since January 2026 and also co-leads the Bachelor’s programme in Digital Business & AI.
She has many years of experience in business informatics and is highly familiar with both teaching and continuing education. She also has a strong understanding of current ICT topics and the challenges that organisations are facing.
Over the past 15 years, she has led IT projects for a cantonal police force, been responsible for IT at a Swiss legal expenses insurer, implemented HR systems as an IT consultant, and gained international experience in quality management at an automotive supplier based in Munich. She is also the deputy chair of the administrative commission of ITSH (Informatik Schaffhausen).
Silvana Cucu holds two Master’s degrees: one in political science (Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, LMU) and one in European administrative studies from the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium. Her academic background is complemented by a Bachelor of Science in Business Informatics from HWZ. This interdisciplinary profile provides an important foundation for the further development of modern, future-oriented and practice-oriented IT degree programmes. With her broad range of expertise, she brings a diversity of perspectives that is central to the design and establishment of innovative IT education and continuing education offerings.
